Purpose
The Starr Disposable Ampoule Breaker (DAB), Pat. No. 6,712,252, was developed for a very simple reason: to prevent finger cuts and glass shards when opening and using ampoules. Below, you’ll find our super-easy 3-step instructions, a demonstration video, and some photos showing how the DAB fits onto the ampoule.
Why You Need It
Did you know? According to a recent survey of nurses:
- 56% have been injured while opening a glass ampoule
- 26% have been injured multiple times
According to M2M Marketing, “29% of US Health Care Related Workers Compensation Claims report that accidents occurred while opening ampoules.”
Isn’t potentially eliminating up to 30% of workers compensation claims worth it?
3-Step Instructions
Using the DAB couldn’t be easier. Close the DAB around the top of the ampoule (like this), and then simply Snap, Close & Dispose!
- Snap – grab the closed DAB with your dominate hand and snap the head of the ampoule off, pulling towards your elbow
- Close – seal the lid of the DAB so the top of the broken ampoule is safely contained inside
- Dispose – toss the sealed DAB in the sharps container
That’s all there is to it!
